Holy Rosary/St. John Church Celebrates the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King with Sr. Patricia Dual, O.P.

The Community of Holy Rosary & St. John the Evangelist is hosting a Martin Luther King Day celebration on Monday, January 19, 2015 beginning at noon at Holy Rosary/St. John Church, 660 South Ohio Avenue (between Main and Livingston), Columbus, Ohio.  The guest speaker is Sr. Patricia Dual, O.P.  Everyone is welcome.

Sr. Patricia Dual, O.P., was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia.  The oldest of five children, Sr. Pat, a life-long Catholic, graduated with a B.A. in Religious Studies from St. Leo University, and has taken graduate theology courses at Aquinas Institute in Missouri, Ohio Dominican University and Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati.  In 2005, she became a member of the Dominican Sisters, St. Mary of the Springs—now the Dominican Sisters of Peace—where Sr. Pat professed Perpetual Vows in December 2011.  Prior to becoming a Dominican Sister, she was employed with the finance department of a large health care corporation for a number of years. Since coming to the community in 2005, Sr. Pat has ministered as the Pastoral Associate at St. James the Less Church in Columbus, Ohio for four years, and since January 2012, she now serves as a member of the Ministry of Welcome-Vocation Team with the Dominican Sisters of Peace.  Sr. Pat is a grandmother and the mother of two adult sons.

An art exhibit, featuring community artists, will accompany the celebration.  The parish itself is blessed with a number of artists and other artists from the neighborhood will be displaying their artwork as well.

Holy Rosary/St. John has been celebrating Martin Luther King Day every year since 1986, the first year the holiday was observed.  This service is therefore one of the oldest Martin Luther King Day events in Columbus.  For additional information, call (614) 252-5926, ext. 7, email, or go to our website at HRSJ.ORG.  The Holy Rosary/St. John Martin Luther King Day Celebration will also be broadcast live at noon on Martin Luther King Day at
